A CURRICULUM FOR EVERY AGE

FAQ

Does your curriculum teach the same lesson for all ages?

While having all ages studying the same lesson has been a trend in recent years, GCP's model is based on the developmental stage of the child.

Our Scope and Sequence shows how the lessons and themes are carefully selected to align with the developmental hallmarks of that particular age group.

Can I copy the student papers?

No, GCP materials are copyrighted, and we appreciate your concern to abide by that. If you have purchased student packs for your regular attenders and have extra children show up, you may certainly make copies.

If the students return, we ask that you purchase more student packs, as the material is intended to be used with one pack/set per child.

Can I copy the teacher’s manual?

No, as with student handouts, GCP teacher manuals are copyrighted and are intended to be used with one teacher. If you need to distribute a lesson or two to a substitute, the purchase of a manual permits that, but if you have multiple teachers, please buy one manual per teacher or classroom.

Why is there only one year of Toddler?

Toddlers go from knowing 200 words as 2-year-olds to over 1,500 words as 3-year-olds, and in that quick time of development, they love repetition! The Toddler curriculum lays building blocks of faith over 52 lessons, and by repeating that cycle the next year, your little ones grow in their understanding of our big God and his big story of redemption in Christ.

What age level should I use if I have K–4th graders in the same room? Is your curriculum flexible?

Show Me Jesus is adaptable to your setting even if you don't have graded classrooms. Our churches tackle this in a variety of ways, and we are here to help you think through solutions that work best for you.

Example: Choose one age level of curriculum, Younger Elementary, for example, which is suited to readers and non-readers. Teach the Bible story to the whole group, then break into smaller age-based groups, with the little ones working on a coloring sheet or craft, while the older group uses the discipleship tools on the At Home paper, looking up Scriptures and talking about the Bible truths.

If you have mostly older kids, G2R Bible Survey is a great tool because it goes from Genesis to Revelation in two years. There are timeline visuals for the entire Bible. Teach the Bible story, then allow the older kids to use InQuire to do the Bible study and give coloring pages from God’s Story Bible Coloring Book for the younger kids. The coloring book has a Scripture index with coloring sheets from Genesis to Revelation and simple activities and games that coordinate with the Bible story.

What do we do with resources that don’t make it home?

Classroom handouts provide your students with creative ways to engage with Bible truths. If they don’t leave the room or end up on the car floor, don’t be discouraged. When children complete the activities in class together, they have accomplished the lesson objectives in ways that meet different learning styles. If families don’t want to take the papers home, suggest they snap a photo of the back page and use the content during the week. We are also developing more digital resources for teaching time and family discipleship—sign up for our emails to keep up with the latest!

Can I order from a different season/quarter?

Absolutely! We do recommend that you follow the current scope and sequence, starting with the first quarter of curriculum in the fall and finishing in the summer. However, we know every church is unique. If the curriculum you’re wanting is out of stock, we recommend you order another quarter or contact us for help.
